High-End Hypoallergenic Skin Care and Household Products; It's Simple and Cheap To
Do It Yourself.
Here is a list of homemade creams and store bought product substitutions; many of them are
dirt cheap, others are just much cheaper than high-end products that have the same ingredients.
The acne and anti-aging concoctions are very similar to some expensive products I've
tried and one I used when in England, but not available here. These homemade formulas are better
quality than 99% of the stuff on the market and are very non-irritating. The deodorant mix is
also superior to any deodorant I've ever bought at a store.
With regard to amounts of ingredients,
it depends on how much you need and what you've got on hand or can afford. The most important
part is the ratio of the ingredients to one another-it doesn't need to be exact.
Specialized Skin Care
Hand Sanitizer: Alcohol in an empty astringent face wash container for ease of use.
- Hand Soap: 1 part dish soap, 9 parts water
add a bit of alcohol to make it antibacterial soap.
- Body Wash: Liquid hand soap or a smaller amount of dish soap, olive oil, water, lotion/aloe
gel-will need shaking.
- Toothpaste: Baking soda, peroxide and cinnamon. Peppermint and wintergreen are nice as well.
If you have gum problems add a drop of tea tree oil. I've thought that magnesium and calcium would be
great to add too.
- Deodorant: Make a paste of a small amount of water and alcohol mixed with baking soda.
Can add ginger for scent as well as it's anti-fungal and Lymph draining properties. (better
than deodorants on the market)
Triple Antibiotic Cream:
2 Tbsp Coconut oil (olive is okay too), 1/2 tsp iodine, 1 clove minced garlic or 1
in a small amount of hot water.
let the mix sit for a day before use. This formula is strong and is also anti-fungal.

oil. Can add olive oil, Vitamin C or mineral powder.
Exfoliating and Hair Inhibiting: Puree of fresh papaya and pinneapple. Can add or substitute with powdered

Shaving Rash Treatment: 1 cup olive oil, 1/2 cup aloe gel, 1 tsp amount of Vicks and 1/2 tsp iodine.
Anti-fungal Foot Cream: 1/2 cup olive oil, caprylic acid (open the capsules and mix into oil), 2
tbsp generic Vicks vapor rub, 2 cloves or 1 tbsp garlic or powder soaked in a little hot water,
1 tbsp ginger, 1 tsp cinnamon and 1 tsp wintergreen or peppermint oil. Powerful Formula. Can add or substitute
tea tree oil and Neem.
-Lemon juice diluted in water spray or comb through hair and leave on. Going
out in the sun accentuates the highlights
-Peroxide diluted HEAVILY with water and poured on in the shower- requires caution, but I've never had any bad results.
-Add chamomile to your shampoo or conditioner.- gives a golden hue after a
week or so. Chamomile is also anti-fungal and mildly antibiotic as well and can help many
-Add Henna to your shampoo or conditioner.- adds highlights the red in your hair, sometimes dramatically.
Henna is also anti-pathogenic and helps the hair and scalp stay healthy.
Split Ends and Wild Curls Tamer:
Olive oil! Just comb it through wet hair, saturating thoroughly as often as needed. For really
dry hair you might want
to leave it
on over night. Olive oil is great because it is unsaturated and tends not to weigh the hair down
and helps toxins release themselves from the scalp and skin.
Men's Hair Smoother: Men may want to smooth/comb in some Olive oil and leave it,
it gives that smooth shiny look. Oil used to be the main styling agent for many men's hair
products though I have noticed it's been replaced by gels in the cheap grocery store brands.
Static Hair Fix: Take an old hairspray bottle and fill it with water, yes I said water.
It improves the overall
softness and health of your hair as well if you do it consistently-I get a bit of curl to my hair
Alcohol as used in this article is "rubbing alcohol".
Fresh ginger and ginger essential oil can be used but I refer to powder in the formulations.
Vitamins and minerals in capsule or crushed tablet are easy to add.
Some of the oils listed might require a trip to a health food grocery store.
Empty containers from previously bought products are great for storage of homemade products.
